Before the start of the actual Antwerp University, UFSIA, the well known, worked till 2002 as the famous autonomous Jesuit university. In spite of the primary academic ambitions during its history, the UFSIA research efforts have always fundamentally been oriented into a better understanding of what really happens in the daily life society. Due to this permanent focus, UFSIA researchers of several disciplines had an undamaged reputation as well informed policy watchers with a fine eye for realistic problem solving on many cultural, economic, judicial and social fields.
